Reiki Healing

Sarah Jane Romp, Reiki Master

We are all energetic beings. The energy that flows through me flows through the universe and also flows through you. We have the ability to heal ourselves using this universal energy. As a Reiki Master I understand and love to teach others how to do this.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is gentle holistic hands on energy healing system that originated in Japan and dates back to the end of the 19th century.  Reiki is practised by the Reiki practitioner placing their hands on the recipient to channel healing energy through the practitioner to the recipient.

It is a gentle, safe healing method that may produce a deep sense of relaxation, relief from tension, stress and fatigue, increasing your body’s energy and vitality. It promotes healing of the body, mind and spirit by helping restore balance, harmony and wellbeing.

Reiki is a Japanese word that translates to Universal Life Energy. When the word is broken in two Rei meaning “universal transcendental spirit or boundless essence” and Ki meaning “life force energy”. In Ayurveda it’s called Prana and in Traditional Chinese Medicine it’s called Chi.

As part of being a Reiki Master I practise daily self healing. For me daily self healing is an act of self love. When I am takling about the act of self love I don’t mean masturbation. Yes that act of self love is healthy but I am talking about that act of self love that heals the soul. It is only when we heal ourselves on the inside that is when we can help to heal others.

Reiki can be performed hands on or hands off but for me I am hands on due to my belief that touch in powerful. As human beings we are a tactile species that thrive on touch and receive massive, emotional, physical and spiritual benefits from touching and receiving touch from others.

With life speeding up and being plugged into our devices 24/7 we forget to be present and look after ourselves. So I am going to give you my tip for fitting in my daily self love healing and it only takes 5 minutes.

I have a night time ritual for when I go to bed. I will lay down and make myself comfortable and place my hands on my heart and imagine that a stream of glowing bright white light entering me through the top of my head into my body and exiting out through the soles of my feet. Asking that the Reiki healing go to where it is needed the most.

This technique can be modified for thoses who are not good with visualation. It can also be done in the shower by standing under the stream of water as it represents the glowing universal light. Let the water to run down your body. By placing your hands on your heart ask that the Reiki healing go to where it is needed most.

I am usally playing relaxation music or a guided meditation when doing my daily self healing as it helps my relax better. I find that if it is the last thing I do before I sleep, I wake up energised and ready for what the day brings.

Using these reiki healing techniques daily can make up an important part of your daily rituals and lead to enhanced feelings of peace, love and energy.

If you have an interest in Reiki and would like to learn more I provide workshops or if you are after a healing check out
